What We Did Today

We just hung out at home today, but I thought it would be fun to just post a few of the happenings.

This morning Story and Cadence both decided they were going to help me with the dishes.  Story would rinse them and hand them to Cadence and she would put them on the drying rack.  It took three times as long, but they wanted to help, how can you say no?  I never understand parents who don't let their kiddos help when they are little, but then they don't understand why they won't help when they are older.

In the middle of the dishes Cadence said, "Pee, pee."  I looked down and yes she did all in the chair they were standing in.

A little while after we were done with the dishes I was putting some clothes in the washer and I heard Cadence yelling, "Mama, Mama." She was in the playroom I walked in and she looked up at me.  I asked, "Are you calling me or a pretend mama?  She said, "Pretend." and then went back to her yelling.

This afternoon we were all in the playroom.  Story and I were doing a puzzle and Lyric and Cadence were both there playing.  Cadence, who was naked, spread her legs and said, "Pee."  I said, "No, don't pee."  But before I could do anything she just peed!  And then she laughed.  She pees outside a lot, so she is actually really good at peeing standing up.  She thought it was hilarious and so did her sisters.

Tonight while we were eating Lyric started making up knock knock jokes.  You know the typical little kid knock knock jokes, either they make no sense or you have heard them 1000 times.  She said something about cheese and so I made one up about cheese (it was actually pretty good I thought:), then Daddy told one and then Story, so you know Cadence had to get involved.  She knocked on the table.  We said, "Who's there?"  She said, "Hot dog."  We said, "Hot dog who?"  She was cracking up laughing, "Hot dog and cheese."  It was so cute.  The girls kept making up more and then Cadence had another.  She knocked on the table.  We said, "Who's there?"  She said, "Nose."  We said, "Nose who?"  She said, "Arabella Cox"  and then she laughed and laughed!  

Good times!

Friday Family Fun Night

We decided to head over to Kaleidoscope Toys for their Family Fun Night.  They were having Bonzo Crunch the clown tonight. 

 The girls only lasted about 10 minutes and decided they would rather play.  After the show, Lyric thought they should all pose for a picture.  Story wasn't feeling it.  I guess 2 out of 3 isn't bad.

 After the show we headed over to Half Price for a while.  We read a few books and had a good time hanging out.

I am really excited about next Friday.  They are having Hawaiian Dancers.  Hopefully the girls will be more into that than they were with the clown.  If not I guess they can play while I watch:-)

Cadence the Cooker

Cadence needed her apron on to do a little cooking today.  Thank goodness the health department didn't stop by.

Happy Birthday to Me

Today was my birthday, so Daddy and the girls made me a cake.  Cookie cake is my favorite, so that is what they made.  It was really funny listening to them cook from the other room.  Especially when Daddy accidentally picked up the beaters without turning off the mixer.  The girls screamed as the batter went flying!  Then I heard Story say, "Mommy turns it off before she picks it up."  Too cute!

We just hung around here at home.  Devon bought me a lottery ticket for my birthday.  I won $200.00 so that was cool!

It is funny how there was a time in my life that I thought 35 was old, now not so much:-)

Happy Birthday America

Apparently Devon and I were on crack when we planned our outing for today!  Don't be surprised, we do that sort of thing all the time (no, not crack... make crazy plans that make no sense whatsoever!).

They were having a reenactment of the Sam Bass shoot out and a festival in Round Rock. Devon wanted to check out the shootout and I thought the festival would be fun.  So, we decided we would go to Round Rock in the morning and watch the shootout and hang around their festival for awhile, then come home for a few hours and head to Georgetown for their festival and stay for the fireworks.  

I don't know what we were thinking.  Seriously, when it is 150 degrees outside unless you are in some water it is not going to be fun!  We got to Round Rock just as the reenactment was starting.  Lyric was scared to death.  She didn't want them to shoot her:-)  She and I headed to the play scape.  Daddy and the little girls stayed for the show.  But before too long they got tired of standing out in middle of the sun so they headed over to the play scape.  Daddy watched alone.

After the show we all headed over to the children's activities.

Our Little Dare Devil decided she wanted to jump on the bungee trampoline thing.  Daddy went to stand in line with her.  He said she didn't say a word the entire time.  They had to weigh her to make sure she weighted 35 lbs.  She was at about 36 or 37:-)

Sisters and I waited patiently while Story jumped.

After jumping the girls decided to ride ponies.  First, it was just Lyric and Story, but Cadence was not about to stay in the wagon while they rode ponies!

She lasted one time around and started attempting to climb off and said "Get off!  Get off!"  She was done!

Lyric enjoyed her ride.

Story doesn't appear to be having fun, but she said she was.

By this time it was a good 200 degrees, so we decided to head home.

We hung out at home for a few hours, ate some supper and decided to head to Chick Fil A to let the girls get their free milkshake they got from the library.  When we were almost there I started thinking they may be closed for the 4th.  Of course they were:-)  So, we headed over to Shivers to get the free ice cream the girls got from the library.

We got to the park and spread out our blanket.  I didn't expect it to be cool, but come on, would you really think it was like 250 degrees outside?  It was like 7:30 at night!  We hung out on the blanket for a while.

Then we decided to head over and look at the water.  Big sister and middle sister.  (I LOVE this picture!).

Lyric spotted a pretty cool bug on a tree.

We went back to our blanket just as it was getting dark.  Unfortunately, it was getting hotter outside not cooler!  I think the temp was nearing 300 by this point!  The girls decided they were done.  They didn't want to wait for the fireworks anymore.  They were hot and tired and just wanted to go.

I pulled out my handy dandy glow sticks from the Dollar Store, best dollar I've ever spent!

Luckily these kept them entertained until the fireworks started.

In the end, it was worth the 400 degree weather and we all had a good time!

We did vow to not be in Texas for the 4th next year.  We plan to be on our bus somewhere much much cooler!  I wouldn't even mind if I needed a light jacket:-)

Cooking With Daddy

The other day I bought the stuff to make homemade pizza because I thought the girls would enjoy it.  I went out and did a little shopping today, so Daddy and the girls decided to make pizza for lunch.  If you look closely you can see that half of the pizza doesn't have sauce.  Story doesn't like "the red stuff".  Daddy said it was easy to make and the girls had fun, so we will definitely be buying more pizza stuff around here.

Patriotic Muffin Tin

We were out of town on Monday, so we did our muffin tin on Wednesday this week.  Michelle at Her Cup Overfloweth had a patriotic theme this week.

We had cherries, strawberries, blueberries, more blueberries (yes, they are a favorite), string cheese, star shaped bread, jello x3, more star bread, ketchup, hot dog x2, ketchup.  There was going to be a third piece of star bread, but Story snagged it off the counter before I could take the picture.

Go Lady!

On our way home from the library today there was lady waiting to cross the street.  I was watching her as she walked up and pushed the button on the crossing sign.  Apparently Cadence was too.  The lady was standing there holding her purse and waiting for the signal to go.  Cadence looked out at her and in a very annoyed/condescending tone said, "GO, LADY!"

I couldn't believe she 1. Was paying attention to the lady, but 2. That she knew what she was doing standing on the corner.

At 22 months we can already tell that is going to be a firecracker!

New Friend at the Library

After the show at the library today the girls wanted to go and drive the jeep. There was a new friend set up behind the jeep, a huge gorilla.

They loved him! They each had to pose next to him.

Then they had to both give him a kiss.

Cadence didn't care too much for him.

Lucas Miller

The girls and I went to the library to watch one of our favorite children's musicians today. Lucas Miller is a signing zoologist. He mixes science with music. He is the one who wrote Stinkle Stinkle that Story sang at the Farmer's Market last year. The little girls didn't last the whole show. We ended up in the hallway with them running around like crazy people. Lyric had a good time. She watched the second half of the show by herself. She didn't seem to mind.
