Felling Better and Having Fun In the Hospital

Story Bell was feeling better today.  This morning the doctors diagnosed her with GVHD.  They started her on steroids and said the throwing up should stop soon.  Aunt Becky sent her the cutest tea set ever!  She had a tea party with Mimi J today.
They had apple juice and Teddy Grahams.
They took time out to pose.
 Baby Jamie joined them.
And Brown Bear was there too.
Story ate part of a Teddy Graham.  The first food she has had in about five weeks.
 Cheers!
 She drank her apple juice.
Nurse Jessica joined us for some tea.
Dr. Frangoul came by and had some tea too.
After the tea party, Story and Mimi J had to get their surgeon gear on and play a little operation.
Even surgeons can take a break for a picture.
She did throw up a few times today, but she was feeling much better!

More Hospital Life

Another week of hospital fun!
We spent some time in the playroom:
playing the guitar,
 rocking babies,
 and playing the lollipop drum.
We played with some fake snow.  We received some snow in a can in the the mail.  I don't remember who sent it off the top of my head, but thank you!
 Making a snowball with Grammy.
 Mr. Snowman
After she made the snowman and knocked him down she added some of her toys in the fun.
I think they all traveled to the North Pole together.
The fun of snow without the cold wetness!
She pranced around in her snow princess outfit.  She actually considered herself a snow queen because she has babies and you can't be a princess and have babies.
Although she is a queen, she is a hands on mama.
Taking care of babies is hard work!
Story Bell got a pretty bad bruise on her head.  She was trying to walk under the IV machine on her pole.  Apparently she didn't fit.
 Uncle Brandon came to visit.
They hung out in the playroom and played some basketball.
She showed him how to use the iPad.
They did some boxing on the Wii.  Yes, she kicked his booty.
That boxing is hard work!  She was out of breath!
Another day when he came, they played some carnival games on the Wii.
They painted some hand print turkeys in the playroom.
They worked really hard on their turkeys.

Uncle Brandon's masterpiece.

Story's masterpiece.
They spent some time staring out the window of the playroom.  There is a lit up Christmas tree a couple of floors down and Story LOVES to look down at it!

 Posing before Uncle Brandon left:

Poor Little Story Bell had a major breakdown missing her sister this week!  She taped this picture of Lyric to the bed railing.
Since most of the mouth bleeding has stopped we were able to put our princess bedding back on the bed.  The Magic Fairy brought this beautiful bedding set on transplant day.  We used it a couple of times, but then her mouth was bleeding too much, so we has to use the hospital bedding for awhile.

Cadence came to visit this week.
They had a good time playing with the dolls.
Overall, she had a good week.  She has still been throwing up once or twice a day, but it isn't the bloody mucus anymore.  The doctor is thinking we may be able to get out at the end of next week!

Hospital Life

We are on day 17 of our hospital stay.  The last few days it seems like Story will have a good day and the next day will be a not so good day. Yesterday was a good day.  She is still sleeping, so we will have to wait and see what the day has in store for us.  She does have to get a blood transfusion.  She always seems to have some sort of meltdown/fit when she gets a transfusion.  I don't know if it makes her feel weird or what?  I did ask that the nurse to please request the blood bank not send crazy blood today!  Here are just a few things we've been up to here at the hospital.
She played the ukulele for Uncle Brandon on Skype.
Sisters sent a plastic spider up for Story.  She discovered a fun game--stand on the bed and play catch.

Daddy and I really didn't like the game (we have enough health issues right now, we don't need to add a broken bone or stitches into the mix), so we didn't play it very long!
She did look pretty cute with the spider on her head!
 She LOVES to be rocked!
I found this cute little crown in the playroom.  When I was taking her picture I told her to smile.  She said it hurt to smile.  Poor baby!
She met a couple of Titan football players.  They signed a calendar for her.
They couldn't come in our pod, so we had to go out in the lobby to meet them.  That's why she was wearing the mask.  With the Hepa filters it is so nice to be able to go out of the room.  The only time she needs the mask is when she is leaving our pod for a procedure, xray, meet football players and things like that.
I took this one in the playroom today.  As you can see, she really was not in the mood for a picture!
Her little face is swollen from all the sores in her mouth.  You can kind of see in this picture where her lips have been bleeding.  We're hoping by the end of the week her mouth is better.
We had a couple of riders on our IV pole today.  Flap the flamingo and our spit cup.  No, Story hasn't taken up tobacco it was for her mucus.

She did some cooking in the playroom today.
I was treated to a feast!
Daddy came last night for a sleepover.  We went to the playroom and Story decided she wanted to play the Angelina Ballerina Dance game with him.  I had to go back to the room for my camera because I knew there were going to be some Kodak moments!
When you land on Angelina you draw a dance card and then you have to do the dance move on the card.  The perfect game for Daddy:-)
 Story went first.
 Then it was Daddy's turn.
 Next up, Story Bell.

Daddy again.  This picture may look funny, but it was actually hilarious to see Daddy doing ballet!
 A few more of Story.

 A few more of Daddy.

I can't wait for Uncle Brandon to come play this game with her:-)
Somehow, we picked up another rider for our pole.

Daddy and Story hanging out on Daddy's bed.
You can't have a slumber party without painting nails.
It is now 10:00 a.m. and Story is still sleeping.  I hope she is getting rested up for another good day!
