History Club

Cadence joined her sisters at Belle Meade for History Club today.  She was very excited to be old enough to attend, but she still seems so young.  I guess it is because she is my baby or maybe it is because Story has always been about 35, so I forget how young a four almost five year old really is:-)

 

 She went right over with sisters to get in line for their snack.  So grown up!

She had a great time and can't wait to go back next month!

Night Out Against Crime

Our  neighbor invited us to her church for Night Out Against Crime tonight.  Story and Cadence were SO excited to be going to a party they both had to wear their party dresses!

There were games, food, a cake walk and lots of fun activities.

Story had the biggest cotton candy I have ever seen in my life!

Unfortunately, Lyric and Cadence don't eat cotton candy, so she had it all to herself!

Lyric and Cadence had snow cones instead.

Story ate every last drop of the cotton candy!

The girls and I did the cake walk.  It was their first time.

We played, and played and played...and Lyric finally won a cake!  Cadence didn't win a cake, but she was pretty excited to share with Lyric;-)

We had a great time!

Truth or Dare

This morning Story and Cadence were playing Truth or Dare while they were eating breakfast.  They had me smiling while I was making the pancakes!  First, I heard Story say, "It's okay if you pick dare because there is a rule where they can't dare something that will kill you."  Cadence picked dare and Story dared her to run to Daddy's bathroom and run back by the time she counted to 10.  Cadence looked at her and said, "Can you make that 11 because Daddy's bathroom is pretty far."  Cadence then dared Story to climb under the table and come out the other side, but Story thought that was too easy for a dare.  So, they agreed she should climb up the door way of the dining room and touch her head on top of it.  She did it, but she did let Cadence know if she fell it could kill her!

Olympic Bowling and Table Tennis

We have been doing a family Olympics on the Wii.  We each picked a country that we plan to represent in our family Olympics.  I chose Mexico because I have always wanted to learn Spanish and I love speaking with a Spanish accent, Devon chose Canada because Spain was already taken and I think it was just a random choice for him, Lyric chose Great Britain because she loves speaking with a British accent and she did some research and saw they won lots of gold metals at the last Olympics, Story chose China also because of some research into their last Olympics, Cadence chose Spain because their flag has lots of yellow and that is her favorite color:-)

We plan to have a night where we do a "presentation" on our country and make food from each country.

Tonight we did bowling and table tennis for our Olympic events.  Story made an amazing spare and Lyric happened to catch it on video.  You may want to adjust your volume--we are really loud!

Story got this interview with Lyric after one of her turns:

When it was time for Table Tennis.  Devon said okay, "Mexico (me) is going to be playing Great Britain (Lyric) first."  Cadence said, "I wanted to play Mama!"  I thought, 'How sweet, she wants to play me.'  Well, it finally came out she wanted to play me because she knew I wasn't very good at the Wii and she would be able to beat me:-(  Sadly, she did beat me!

Cadence's New Home

Cadence found a new home today. 

 

 She had Devon make this sign.  Yes, I did have to find a new home for the blankets.

But, I didn't mind!

Summer Reading

I really like the way the library did the Summer Reading Program this year.  Last year, the kids had to read so many books or so many hours.  The girls participated, but we read so much around here it wasn't really anything different except for the fact that I had to try to keep track of how much they were reading.

This year, the library had 15 activities you could complete.  You had to complete at least five.  A few of the activities were to read for two hours, but there were others too.  Some were to attend the activities at the library, read a book online and one was to complete a recipe or craft from a book.

The girls checked out a craft book that had the idea for these little stuffed animals.  We finally finished them today.  They turned out really cute!

To participate in the program you had to complete 5 activities, but the girls completed all 15 because Lyric really wanted to win the grand prize- a trip to Dollywood;-)
I participated in the adult program.  Which also had different activities.  I found out our library has a service called Freegal where you can download five free songs a week!  Free music--awesome!

New Toy

We borrowed this toy from the family I work for and the girls have had so much fun with it!  Cadence is really loving it!

Swimming!

We took the girls swimming today.  

I recorded videos of all three girls doing different things in the pool.  Poor Story Bell spent forever trying to make a video of her teaching the audience how to do a flip in the water.  She did 4 or 5 different videos before she was happy with one.  When I uploaded the videos to the computer, I realized my phone was muted the whole time:-(  So, I have a bunch of silent videos!  But ironically, Lyric's was supposed to be silent:-)

Painting for Make a Wish

The girls were invited to a Make a Wish art party today.  They were so excited!

 

 Ice cream and painting, you can't beat that!

 I was at work, so Devon was the lucky one to take them.

 Lyric did a turtle with peace signs, that is so her!

 Story was planning to do Mickey Mouse, but ended up doing Hello Kitty.

 Cadence did a cat with LOTS of jewels!

The paintings are going to be in an upcoming auction for Make a Wish to raise money to grant more wishes!

Butt Signing

Cadence walked up to me tonight and said, "Mama, you want to read my butt?"  I turned to see Story written right across her hiney! 

Those two crack me up!  I didn't even ask what they were doing.  I don't think I wanted to know;-)
