The Fruit of Our Labor

We picked our first tomato today! Daddy told Lyric the five of us were going to have to split it, so everyone could have a taste. It isn't very big. I don't think the poor little thing could be cut into five pieces:-)

Looking for Wildlife

Story and I had a date night tonight. We headed to Sonic for ice cream and then to Target to do some shopping.

While we were gone Miss Lyric and Baby Cadence decided to look for wildlife from the front porch. Lyric took these pictures of Cadence. I am not sure if she saw any wildlife, but she was sure cute!

Early Risers

Story and Cadence woke up early together this morning. They cuddled up and watched Sesame Street. So sweet!

CVS Fun!

So, I don't think I have posted about my coupons yet. Right? Well, a few weeks ago I decided I was going to get serious about coupons. I did a little research online. I watched a YouTube video where someone showed their coupon binder and how it was set up (who knew there were YouTube videos about such things?) I headed out to WalMart and picked up a binder and some baseball card holders and I was one my way!

I am still very new to all of this and just trying to figure it all out! But I really want to be one of those people who go into a store and buy like $100.00 worth of stuff and only spend like $7.41. How cool would that be!

I follow this blog Mommy Snacks and she includes the sales each week for CVS. She has a link on her site for another blog where they host a $5.00 CVS challenge (you go into CVS and see how much you can buy for $5). So, I decided to try it today.

So here is what I bought:

Transaction 1: Colgate Total Toothpaste- 2.99 Band Aid (60 count)- 2.99 Playtex Tampons- 3.99 With my coupons and I had $2 ECB from last week I paid $5.55 and I got $7ECB Transaction 2: Revlon Nail Polish- 3.99 Speed Stick Pro Deodorant- 3.99 With my coupons and $5 ECB from transaction 1 I paid $1.98 and I got $6.99 ECB Transaction 3: 2 Olay Body Wash- 2/$12 2 Post Trail Mix Crunch cereal- BOGO First Aid Kit- .99 St Ive Apricot Scrub- 1.49 With my coupons and $8.99 ECB from transaction 2 I paid $1.78 and I got $5 ECB

In the end I spent $9.31 and I have 5 ECB left to spend! I had a fun time at CVS! I didn't think it was too bad for my first time;-)

Any couponers out there who would like to give a newbie advice I would love to hear it!

Camping in the Backyard

Over memorial weekend we were talking about how much fun it would be to go camping, but it was just too hot. Sunday night Lyric asked daddy if they could camp in the backyard. The weather had cooled down some with the rain, so he said sure. They could set up the two man tent. Well, when he started to look for the two man tent he was having some trouble finding it... He asked me if I had seen it. Hum? Let me think?... Are you talking about the two man tent we had to throw away when we hiked up Guadalupe Peak? Oh, yea, the zipper broke:-) At this point it was too late! The five year old had it in her mind that they were camping. So,he set up the hotel. This was our view from the backdoor.

It was like 9:00 or 9:30 when they started setting it all up and they were hungry. So, mama made them a camping snack. Story and Cadence fell asleep inside the house, so it was just Daddy and Lyric in the tent. The next morning Cadence went out and sat beside Lyric and read book while she waited for her to wake up.

Lyric wanted to camp out every night! Unfortunately, there was a chance of rain, so Daddy had to take the tent down. Good times and good memories!

Slip and Slide

The girls wanted to go to the indoor pool at the rec center today. I didn't have it in me to manage all three in the pool alone, so we went out and bought a new slip and slide. The big girls loved it, but Cadence didn't care too much for it.

Cadence did think it was a good place to give her puppy a 'bafh'.He got all nice and clean.The big girls had a good time running back and forth. There was a little pushing, but not much sliding.It was a great place to get a drink.

We had the slip and slide set up and the pool, so they had a really good time. Story and Cadence were both asleep by 7:00, so you know they were worn out.

Bucket Heads

Baby Cadence and Miss Lyric were riding in the John Deere this afternoon. Apparently, the sun was in their eyes. They came up with a creative solution.

MTM- Bugs

We forgot to do our muffin tin on Monday, so we decided to do it on Wednesday this week. The theme at Her Cup Overfloweth was choose your own theme. I decided to do bugs.We had ladybugs (apple halves with raisins), flowers in grass (avocado and baked flower tortilla "chips") snail shells (flattened bread spread with cream cheese and sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar), spiders (Ritz crackers spread with peanut butter, pretzel legs and raisin eyes), more flower chips, butterfly cheese quesadillas, chocolate covered ants (chocolate covered raisins)

We went to the lake this weekend to celebrate Bob's birthday. We saw a lot of people we haven't seen in years. Good times were had by all.

Muffin Tin Monday- Children's Literature

The Muffin Tin Monday theme for today was Children's Literature. I had a lot of fun with this one! We checked out You're a Good Dog Carl by Alexandra Day a couple of weeks ago from the library. The girls really like this book, especially the story about Carl's Birthday. Story loves the part where Carl and the little girl hang up the reindeer for a birthday party decoration.From left to right: sliced cheese bone and Carl, cupcake with a candle, kazoo party favor, cube cheese with a chocolate chip on top (presents), Rudolph sandwich, cheese puffs (party food), strawberry balloons with fruit roll up strings, peanuts (party food)

We had vitamin water (punch) complete with crazy straw.

The girls liked blowing out the candles. We have read this book a million times lately, but it took them forever to guess it! I had to give a lot of hints. I don't know if Cadence enjoyed the whole muffin tin, but she sure enjoyed the cupcake!
