Someone ate the last orange this morning.  Story found a new use for the bag they were in.  She wore it the rest of the day!

Circus Girl

Story practiced her unicycle today. She wants to be in the circus and ride it across a tight rope when she grows up. But first, we've got to learn to ride it on the ground; -)

I Love Unschooling!

I know I've said it before, but I love Unschooling! Almost every day my kids do or say something that shows me we've made the right decision for our family.
Story NEVER uses punctuation! I think it's kind of a defiance thing for her, "You're supposed to do this - well, I'm not going to!" It drives Lyric crazy! She tells her all the time that she needs to use punctuation, but I rarely bring it up unless I'm telling her I can't read something she has written.
I recently found a Facebook page set up for homeschoolers to find pen pals.  Lyric and Story both found their first pen pal.
Story wrote her letter today.  She sat down to write it and said, "Mama, will you help me with the punctuation?  I want her to know what I'm trying to say."
There was no arguing or fighting about how important punctuation is, but when it was important to her she decided to use it:-)

Story Bell's Check-Up

Story had her six month check up today.  Devon was working, so all the girls went to the appointment.  That was an adventure:-)  Everything looked great!  I asked about her weight because Cadence has officially passed her on the scale.  Cadence weighs 52 pounds and Story only weighs 48.  She has grown in height, so the doctors said they weren't worried.  She is probably just going to be tall and skinny.  She was skinny precancer, so I guess that is just her body type.

We go back in the middle of November for the big appointment where they check everything out.  It will be her four year anniversary!  That's hard to believe!

Unicycle Girl

Story has been waiting since her birthday to try out her unicycle.  We were finally able take it out tonight. 

 

 Devon helped her.  She is trying to balance on it right now.  It's going to take some time;-)

But if you know Story, you know how persistent she is and she will keep trying until she gets it!

Happy 8th Birthday Story Bell

Story celebrated her 8th birthday today.

Her morning started with M&M pancakes.

Then it was present time!

Cadence bought her candy.

 

Lyric wrapped her gift in about 15 layers.

 

When Story finally got it open she discovered a cap gun and caps.  She saw it at the dollar store the other day and really wanted one. 

 

Next came Coda's present.

  

It was a hovercraft making kit.  She watched a Youtube video awhile back and has been wanting to make one.  So, I put the supplies in a bag for all three girls to make one.  I will be sure and post when we make it:-)

 

Devon and I got her a bike.  She really needed one!  She got her last one on her 5th birthday and it was getting pretty small!

 We had some lunch and then it was time for cupcakes.

After our cupcakes we headed to the pool.  The 30 degree weather outside didn't matter to this birthday girl, she wanted to go swimming;-)

Coda didn't have a swimsuit, but if she had I think she would have loved the pool!

Story LOVED the water slide and she made us all try it!

 

Lyric went up to try it, but decided it wasn't for her.  So, she came back down the stairs.

 

Happy 8th Birthday Sweet Girl!

Vitamin D?

Yesterday at Story's three year checkup the doctor said she was Vitamin D deficient.  He prescribed her some, but on the way home we talked about other ways to get it.  Lyric knew it came from the sun, but its freezing, so she isn't going to be spending much time outside.  We talked about how rice milk and soy milk are both fortified with it and we needed to see which one had more and that is the one she would try to drink most of the time.  We buy both- the girls and I like rice and Devon likes soy.  I told her we needed to do some research to see what foods its in.

This afternoon I made us smoothies.  When I gave it to her.  She said, "Does this have Vitamin D in it?"  That's my little Story Bell!  I'm going to be getting that question every time I give her food.

Ear Doctor?

Today Story had her three year check up.  We saw the eye doctor, lung doctor, the heart doctor and the oncologist.  Tonight, she said, "Hey, is there a such thing as an ear doctor?  Because we should see one...  We've seen every other kind of doctor!"

Yes, Miss Story Bell we have seen lots of doctors, but I'm pretty thankful we didn't have to see the ear doctor!

Science Talk

Tonight while we were eating Story asked how Coda is a girl. Like how was she born a girl and not a boy. I said it was in her chromosomes.  You know, genetics.  Like she has blue eyes because it's in her genes. Or she has fat cheeks instead of skinny ones because its in her genes. I said she is a girl because she has... I looked at Devon because I couldn't remember XY or XX...

Lyric said, "A vulva."

Story Checks Out!

Story Bell had a clinic appointment today.  Everything looked great!  We don't have to go back until November for her anniversary check-up!

 

This May 2011, she's come a long way!

Monkey Girl

We met up with a new homeschooling group today.  I didn't take many pictures, but I did get a couple of Story being her little monkey self!

Veggie Heaven

Tonight Devon made Brussels sprouts, broccoli, asparagus, turnip greens and kale for dinner.  Story said, "This is vegetable heaven!" She thought it was the best dinner ever:-)

 

Needless to say, her sisters didn't agree:-)

Three Month Clinic Visit

Story Bell had a clinic visit today.  While we waited she was being silly Ema, the elephant she sewed.

The visit was pretty uneventful, which is a good thing!  They drew her blood to check her counts and we saw the doctor.  Everything looks great!  We will be heading back in May for hopefully another uneventful checkup!
