Milburn Pool

The girls asked to visit Milburn Pool when we did our Yam Buddies at the park the other day. They were going to be closing for the summer, so we decided to head over there before leaving for Lubbock on Thursday. The water was really cold!

The girls LOVED the water slide. Lyric wanted us to take her picture every time she went down, so we got lots and lots of shots! Story liked the slide, but she wanted Daddy to catch her. Daddy are you there?

Waiting.. waiting...waiting...

She did it!

Cadence had a good time crawling around on the beach entrance. She didn't understand why I wouldn't let her crawl all the way out into the pool. We all had a good time. Why didn't we visit this pool all simmer?

Who Stole the Cookie From Story Bell?

The girls were having a snack on the couch this afternoon and Story fell asleep. Cadence just couldn't let those perfectly good Dora animal crackers go to waste! You snooze you lose;-)

"They're going to love this..."

The girls spent some time this afternoon painting the wrapping paper for Marshall and Kelly's wedding gifts for this weekend. I was doing dishes and listening to their conversation while they worked. Story said, "Marshall and Kelly are going to love this. They are going to say, 'Oh look at that!"

I bet you're right Miss Story Bell, Marshall and Kelly are going to love your painting!

My Baby is a Big Girl!

The girls and I went to Target today because Lyric has no clothes. It seems like every time she gets dressed to go anywhere her belly is hanging out because she has outgrown her clothes. We had to shop in the little girl section! Can you believe that? My baby is getting so BIG! I just really wasn't prepared for it. I knew it was going to happen at some point, but I just didn't realize it was going to be this soon.

She also got a haircut today... too cute!

Not Your Average Push Up

Lyric picked out some push up looking ice cream at HEB the other day. This evening both girls picked a rainbow one and we headed outside so they could eat them. Boy, am I glad we were outside--those things were messy! Cadence and I shared an orange one because it reminded me of the push ups I had as a child. I had never seen any other flavor, but orange. Not only do they make different flavored push ups now days, but the stick part was full of candy! As if the ice cream didn't contain enough sugar! The girls loved them!

Where do you think we headed after they were done? You guessed it--bath time!

B is for Butterfly

The girls wanted to work on their lapbook today, so we worked on Letter B book. Lyric did some coloring and cutting, but lost interest and went in her room to play. Story LOVED it! She colored, cut and glued! I have about 20 pictures of her working because every couple of minutes she would say, "Take my picture doing this... Take my picture doing this..."

After she finished her Letter B book she stamped some letter Bs onto a piece of purple(her favorite) construction paper.

It is really interesting to see how she colors compared to Lyric. Lyric used one color for each object and went way outside the lines. Story used many, many colors on each object and mostly stayed in the lines. I wonder if it is skill? Story's younger so you would think Lyric would be better... or is it just the want to do it? Story is much more into coloring than Lyric. It will be interesting to watch how their coloring "skills" develop as they get older. It could just be that Lyric takes after me. I have never been good at coloring and it is something I don't really enjoy. I will color with the girls when they ask me to, but I just really don't like doing it, maybe it is because I'm not very good at it:-)

Picnic with Grammy

Grammy came to visit us for the day today. It wasn't too terribly hot this afternoon, so we decided to go to Berry Springs Park in Georgetown and have a picnic. I packed us some sandwiches, pretzels, fruit and Oreos. It was so nice sitting under the trees on the blanket. Lyric was really excited about the Oreos! We discovered something about Cadence today. We gave her an Oreo, her first ever, and she opened it up and started licking the filling. Are children just born with the trait of how to eat an Oreo? It was really funny to see her eating that Oreo like a pro! After we finished our lunch we played on the play scape for a while, but when we got out from under our tree it was HOT!! Story had a tummy ache, so we didn't play too long. Of course before leaving we had to pet the donkeys. It took a while to call them over, but eventually they came and the girls got to pet them. Overall it was a fun day at one of our favorite parks!

Fruit Salad

The girls wanted to help with supper tonight. We were having egg burritos, so I let them help with the fruit salad. I gave them the job of cutting up the strawberries. Lyric struggled a little, who knew strawberries could be so hard to cut? I don't think Story really understood what her duty was. Not one of her strawberries made it to the bowl! I didn't even think she liked strawberries that much. She rarely eats them. The fruit salad turned out really yummy despite Story eating all of her strawberries and Lyric eating some of hers! We put in mango, kiwi, strawberries, an orange that looked just like a grapefruit, but was really an orange and a plumcot.

Have you had plumcot? This was my first time, remember Devon went to the store this week. None of us had ever had one, but we all thought they were great! I will definitely be buying them again. My little helpers did an awesome job! The fruit salad was yum!

Shakin' Up Some Ice Cream

Today we headed to the pool to make homemade ice cream for Story's two year old science play date. We had a really low turn out today Story and J were the only two year olds here. First, we did an experiment where we put scoops of ice cream on the sidewalk, in a metal pan, a plastic bowl and a glass pan. We asked the girls which scoop would melt first when the pans were placed in the sun. Our four year olds guessed right with the sidewalk. After watching the melting ice cream for a while, we made our own ice cream in plastic bags. I got the recipe at All Recipes. It required lots of shaking! The girls didn't last too long with the shaking so J and I did most of it. It was actually pretty good.

Story and J helped mix the ice cream mixture before we put it into the baggies. I didn't take any pictures of the swimming but we had a great time swimming with J, J and J! Thanks for coming over and hanging out with us today girls! Mama J I hope your arm wasn't too sore from throwing the rockets for the girls.

** I had to include this picture to tell you guys about our snake rescue! When we all arrived at the pool today there was a mama and her kiddos already there and they said there was a snake in the pool. We all went over and looked at it and then tried to get it out. We tried with a hook thing used to pull people out, but it didn't work. We then decided to use a pool noodle and were able to rescue the little guy. He looks really long in this picture, but I think he was just a baby. Pretty cool start to our science play date.

Y is for Yam Buddies

We did the cutest craft with our play group today! Thanks for setting it up J! This month is "Y" month, so we made Yam Buddies. They are so cute! We put them in a jar with water and they are going to grow legs and hair. I will be sure to keep you all updated on their progress.

Story decided to give her buddy a purple necklace.

Lyric named her little guy Allen (don't ask me where the name came from). They chatted all the way home. Allen even asked me to turn the radio down because it was too loud for him! I guess he and Lyric are pretty different when it comes to the radio. The louder the better for her!

He even sat in the chair and had lunch with us. But apparently he doesn't like french fries, so Lyric had to eat his:-)

Cadence was cute as usual. She just sat in the stroller eating pretzels while we did the craft.
