Snowflakes!

Snowflakes were on the Advent Calendar today.  We made coffee filter snowflakes for the walls and tortilla snowflakes for our tummies!

 For the tortilla snowflakes you simply fold a tortilla, cut with kitchen scissors,

 brush with olive oil and bake.  We brushed some with cinnamon and sugar before baking and brushed some with powdered sugar after baking.

Yum!

Salt Dough Ornaments

Today, we made salt dough ornaments.  Such an easy recipe: salt, flour and water.

 The girls each picked cookie cutters to use

 and fought over took turns cutting them out.

 We used a straw to poke holes in the ornaments for the ribbon.

 Once the ornaments were dry we painted them

 When the paint was dry we did a coat of glitter paint to add some shine.  We added ribbon to finish them off.

 This is where the picture of all our cute little ornaments should be.  As usual, I forgot to take one!  Since I am writing this post in the middle of January I did manage to find a picture of Katie opening one of them.  I don't remember which girl painted this one, but isn't it cute:-)

Easter Crafts

The girls and I decided to do some Easter crafts today.  I saw this lamb craft when I was messing around on the internet.  The girls like crafts that involve body painting, so I figured they would be up for it.

Cadence enjoyed it so much she had to make two:-)

 Lyric worked hard decorating the front of her card.

 Someone was not in the mood for pictures!

 Gluing on the cotton balls.

 Lyric had a chocolate bunny break from the crafting.

 

 The ones I saw used black paint, so they were a little more "lamb like."  The girls wanted to have colored lambs, so that's what we did.

 We also made some coffee filter Easter eggs.  I found the idea here.

First, we cut the coffee filters in an egg shape.  Then we colored them with markers.

 That girls uses her tongue, just like her Daddy!

 

Spraying the egg with water was their favorite part.

 

I forgot to take a picture of the finished product, but they were pretty cute!  You will just have to take my word for it:-)

Crafty Girl

Miss Story Bell was feeling pretty crafty today. This morning she colored a picture of an elf and glued her picture on for the face. It was really cute, but I forget to take a picture of it. I got the idea from here. She decided she wanted to turn it into a Christmas card, so we did. I won't say who she sent it to so the surprise won't be ruined.

This afternoon we found another card idea on the internet at the Family Fun website. She made these cute Santa cards with her hand print. You can tell in this one I helped her decide where the eyes should go. But in this one she did it all on her own. They turned out pretty cute! Tomorrow we will get them in the mail.

It is really interesting to watch Story when she is doing crafts. Her coloring really amazes me. She uses lots of colors and for the most part she stays in the lines.

I really like doing Christmas crafts, so I was glad she wanted to do these projects today. The girls haven't been feeling too crafty lately.
