Little Miracles (A Song for Story)

We posted this slideshow on Caring Bridge and Facebook, so all of my 'readers', aka- family, have probably seen it.  But I wanted to post it here just so it would be on the blog.

I also want to thank my wonderful husband for writing this song and putting together this slide show for our little Story Bell.  You are amazing at what you do!

Stinkle Stinkle

Story sang at the Farmer's Market in Austin a few years ago. I know the video is somewhere on the blog, but I ran across it tonight and just had to post it again.

Hair Washing

Miss Story Bell isn't real big on bath taking.  She hates taking the sticker off that has to cover the dressing on her chest, so we usually stick with sponge baths.  Today she found these goggles and I tried really hard to get her to take a 'real' bath with them, but she wasn't having it.  She decided she would get me to wash her hair in the sink, but wear the goggles, "Just in case the water got in her eyes."

After we washed her hair we flipped her around and washed her feet.  Cadence decided she wanted to help.
The top and bottom are clean; I guess we will have to get the middle next time;-)

Chatty Kathy

Cadence accompanied me to the grocery store today. When we got to the check out she became fast friends with the clerk. Here is a summary of their conversation:
Clerk: I love your haircut. It is so cute!
Cadence: First, Lyric got her hair cut like dis then me and Story got our
hair cut like dis.
Clerk: I see you have a movie there. Did you rent a movie? (She was holding a movie from the Red Box in front of the store)
Cadence: I have Diedgo. Dis one is called Diedgo Saves t
he Pandas.
Clerk: I like your shoes. Those are cute.
Cadence: Mama made dese at da hospital. Story was in da hospital wis Mama. (I told the clerk Story was her big sister who was in the hospital)
Clerk: Oh, well I hope you're sister is okay. Is she all better now?
When the clerk asked this I realized that we have never really talked with Cadence about what is wrong with Story because she is so little. Out of curiosity I asked, "Cadence, do you know why Story was in the hospital? Can you tell her what was
wrong with Story?"
Cadence: She was in da hospital because she ate too much.
I almost fell out right there in the store! It was hilarious! She really did think Story was in the hospital because she ate too much! I guess when you see your sister go from 32 pounds to almost 50 in just a matter of weeks, the logical explanation would be that she ate too much!
The first two pictures were taken July 9th, just three days before her diagnosis. The last one was August 15. Prednisone-- CrAzY!

Is it Cancer?

The other day Cadence had her baby doll in the bed. Story and I walked into the room and she told us her baby was sick.
Story walked up and said, "Does she have leukemia Cadence? Is it cancer?"
I couldn't help but laugh! What happened to it just being a cold or a tummy ache?
I am happy to report that the baby did not have cancer. She just had a macaroni sickness, apparently her Mommy cooked some macaroni that was bad.

Playing Dress Up

Miss Lyric decided to dress up for Halloween a little bit early today. She made herself up as a ware wolf. She had an eye patch, fangs and she used a red marker to draw blood and scars.

Grammy and Bob Come to Visit

Grammy and Bob decided to come for a visit this weekend. On Saturday we decided to head to Centennial Park. Bob and the girls decided to have a snow cone.
How cute are they?
We got the girls to pose by the lake. Lyric was so excited about doing it!
Miss Lyric just can't pose without flashing that peace sign. Where did she learn that from?
Grammy talked Story into posing with her.
Daddy, Lyric and Cadence attempted to fly the kite.
They got it up a few times.
Daddy even let Lyric hold the string.
Cool shot of The Parthenon in the background.
She was having fun, I think.
Story Bell was into the kite flying. She played soccer with Bob.
Her shoes were bothering her, so she decided to wear mine.
It was a beautiful day, but the girls got a little hot. They had to have another snow cone for the ride home.

Happy Birthday Baby Cadence!

Dear Cadence,
Can you believe you are three today? On one hand, it is hard for me to believe you are already three, but on the other, it seems like you have been in our lives so much longer than that!
From the day you entered our world you were loved so much!
Your sisters showered you with toys. What newborn doesn't need an Elmo doll, a ketchup bottle and a snake?
For Halloween we stuck you in a pumpkin, yes a real pumpkin!
Avocado was one of your first foods and you still love it today, but you prefer to call it 'apacado.'
You made some pretty cute faces when you were little. Luckily, you grew out of this one!
Tomatoes have always been one of your favorite foods. You enjoy picking
and eating them!
You don't mind getting a little messy,
but you always ask for a napkin when you do.
You are quite the cook, but if Mommy has to walk away from the counter you have to put your hands on your head because you like to do things by yourself.
You are a little stubborn! You know what you want and how you want it. Yes, you are wearing a pool floaty in the bathtub; you refused to take it off!
You have always been our little princess!
Sometimes you like to do things a little bit backwards, but it all works out in the end.
When someone disturbs you during a movie on the computer you tend to get a little mad.
You are extremely independent! You can put on your own makeup and make your own breakfast.
You are an extremely good driver! You can even do it standing up.
You aren't real big on cold weather, just isn't your thing.
What a sweet little girl you are!
You LOVE band aids!
No really, you LOVE them!
You've got your own little house under the TV where you like to watch movies.
You're the smartest three year old we know!
Cadence, you are the whole package! We all care about and love you!

So Long Ago, But Just So Cute!

I found this picture tonight while I was uploading some pictures. How sweet are they? So happy to have a new baby sister. I am guessing this was probably taken the day Cadence was born, so three years ago on Friday.
This post really has no purpose except to post the cute picture of my girls.

Story Bell Having a Sponge Bath

Miss Story Bell decided to have a sponge bath tonight, well to be honest it was more my idea than hers. She was a little overdue! We washed her up good and then she decided she wanted to soak her feet in the tub of warm water. She liked that, I had to refill it twice because the water kept getting cold. She could take a real bath/shower, but she HATES taking off the huge sticker we have to put over her tubies.
I told her to look at me so I could take the picture--this is what I got:
Then I told her to move her finger and smile and this is what I got:
Third times a charm and she even added that infamous Story head tilt!
After we got her all dried off we put some lotion on and she is set for a few more days.
