Splash Park!

Today we finally took the kiddos downtown to check out a park that opened last year.
They were very excited to play on the splash pad.  Lyric was REALLY excited--not;-)

Story and Cadence had a good time.

Lyric was bored and complaining the whole time, so Devon took her to walk around and explore the rest of the park.

They tried out the seesaw before we left.  They liked it.  I did not!

There is a reason they don't put seesaws in parks anymore.  Those things are death traps!  This is a really cool park otherwise!

Home Depot Kids' Workshop- Herb Planters

Today we went to the kids' workshop at Home Depot.  This was the easiest project we have ever done there!
The project only involved one screw, but they still needed their goggles--safety first!

We bought some seeds to go in their pots.  As soon as it warms up some we will plant them.

Hiking at Bell's Bend

Today we went hiking at Bell's Bend.  We've been wanting to go to this park for awhile.  I have to admit it wasn't one of my favorites.  It was mostly just flat land with very few trees.
Cadence walked about 3o feet and decided she needed to hitch a ride with Daddy.

Sisterly love!
Cadence and Story were keeping their eyes out for tracks.  They discovered some dog tracks that they had a great time tracking!
They lagged pretty far behind us because they were studying the tracks.  They also saw some deer tracks, but they weren't as exciting as the dog tracks!
I love this picture!  If you look closely you can see her journal in her hand.  She kept letting it slide in front of Devon's face because she was busy looking through her binoculars.  Too cute!

We eventually made our way to the creek.  It was lots of fun to explore.
Cadence and Story wanted to get in, but I convinced them it was a little too cold for that.
Miss Hollywood had to pose with the big metal pipe.
Its been a while since we have been hiking, so it was good to get out and enjoy the sunshine!

Container Garden

Today we planted our container garden.  This morning we went out and bought pots and plants.
This afternoon we got to work getting everything planted.
Everyone had a great time doing the planting.

Cadence almost killed the herbs!  She would put in a shovel of dirt and then use the shovel to pat down the dirt.  Unfortunately, she wasn't a very good aim, so she patted down more than the plants.

We're pretty new at this whole gardening thing, so we will see how it goes:-)

Marlie's First Visit to the Dog Park

This morning Devon decided to do his run at Shelby park, so we decided to take the girls' bikes and take Marlie to the park afterwards.  They don't have a place to ride their bikes at home, so they were pretty excited to get to ride them!
Lyric and Story took a break from their bikes to walk down to the water.
Lyric found a snail.  Luckily, she just looked at him for a while and put him back.  He didn't accompany us home:-)
After their bike rides we visited the new nature play area.
Lyric made herself a balance beam.

Marlie loved being at the park!

Story Bell did some building too.

We took Marlie over to the dog park for the first time.  We were all a little worried how she was going to act around the other dogs.  She likes to act like a tough girl sometimes.  We were hoping she wouldn't try to wouldn't bark or jump on the other dogs.
We were all surprised to see she was scared to death of the other dogs.  She stayed close to us and wanted no part of the other dogs.
The other dogs kept coming over and trying to get her to play, but she wanted no part of it.

It was funny how much it felt like having another kid.  When the other dogs would come over we would watch her and think, 'Its okay, go play, go play...'  Just like when the girls are at the park and making new friends.
She eventually went to play some, but she still tried to stay pretty close to us.
She had a good time and I see more dog parks in out future.
