Best Dad in the World!

My children are SO lucky to have their Daddy. I was trying to go to bed early tonight because I got up early to sub today. Miss L came in and was moving around in the bed, so I couldn't sleep. I walked into the living room and saw my nutty husband standing over the waffle iron at 9:30 at night.
I said, "What are you doing?"
He said, "Making waffles."
"Why?" I asked.
"Because SB wanted some."
"Why didn't you say, SB, we don't have any waffles?" I questioned.
He said he tried that and she begged him for waffles, so he decided to make them for her.
Now, I know you are thinking 'How sweet, What a good daddy' But he didn't just make her waffles. We didn't have any waffle mix, so he got on the computer and found a recipe for waffles, then he made her waffles from scratch at 9:30 at night. And he did the dishes! Boy, are we lucky to have him!

Baby, Gorilla, Snake...WHAT?

This afternoon the big girls told me they were having babies and they needed me to be the midwife. They laid on the bed with their bulging bellies. We were getting ready to "deliver" when we looked over and saw that Baby C was also expecting. Much to the surprise of their midwife Baby C delivered a snake.SB popped out a gorilla,
Miss L actually had a baby.

It was a busy afternoon with three births, but I am happy to report moms and babies are all doing well!

Can You Guess What This Picture Is?

Gotta guess?
Yes, it is a towel on the floor, but look a little closer. That is my little SB asleep on the bathroom floor completely covered with a towel. I was subbing today and so I got up early to take a bath. A bath is a luxury I enjoy, but rarely get to enjoy by myself! She woke up without me in the bed and found me in the bathroom. The light was too bright, so she covered herself with a towel. Before I knew it she was fast asleep. What is really funny is this is not the first time she has fallen asleep on this rug. Anytime anywhere, if she is tired she is going to sleep!

Baby C Goes Potty and Her Goose Egg

For a few weeks now Baby C has been intrigued by the potty. She will go into the bathroom, open the toilet, put the Dora potty seat on and insist she needs to go. She will then sit on the potty and ask for a book. I had about decided that she did all of this because she knew it would result in us sitting and reading with her. The poor kid doesn't get much of that (she is the 3rd child, you know).
She did this whole routine the other day with Daddy and he got tired of waiting on her to "go", so he got her off the potty and a few minutes later she peed in the floor. This afternoon Miss L and I were going to Target. I heard Baby C dragging Daddy to the potty. We headed out the door and a couple of minutes later I had to come back in for my phone. I heard Daddy in the potty saying, "Did you do that? Did you go potty?" Baby C actually pooped in the potty! We were shocked she actually did it! I don't know if this is the beginning of a potty training adventure or if it was just a fluke I guess we will have to wait and see what happens! If you look closely at these pictures I am sure you can see the big goose egg on Baby C's forehead. Apparently she thought she needed to climb on the back of the potty so big sister SB decided to help her. That part went okay it was when Big Sister was helping her off the potty that they ran into trouble.* *No they were not home alone. Mommy and Daddy were both home. Mommy was watching The Biggest Loser and Daddy was working on the computer. The next time I hear the two youngest children playing in the bathroom I will not assume they are brushing their teeth.

Fried Tomatoes

Tonight while I was doing the dishes SB walked in and said she wanted to cook me something in her kitchen.
Me: What are my choices?
SB: We have hot dogs.
Me: That doesn't really sound good. Do you have anything sweet? You know, like peach cobbler or cake?
SB: We have two choices: hot dogs or fried tomatoes.
Me: I've never had fried tomatoes, what do they taste like?
SB: They taste like fried tomatoes.
Me: Well, of course they do! I'll take some.
So she made me fried tomatoes.

Feliz Cumpleanos Rocksssanne

The family went to bilingual story time today. It was the library's snake's birthday. She turned 12 today. In honor of her birthday. The subject for story time was Feliez Cumpleanos, Happy Birthday. They read birthday books and snake books and then Rocksssanne, the snake, joined us. The kids LOVED her. Of course my camera batteries were almost dead so I didn't get any really good pictures, the camera would go off after each shot, but I got a couple.
Rocksssanne trying to get to the floor to escape!Miss L was one of the first ones to "pet" her and one of the last. She really liked her! She even let Rocksssanne smell her with her tongue.

SB touched her too. She was a little more timid, but not as much as I thought she would be.

After listening to the librarian talk about how easy she was to take care of I could maybe see having a snake. The next time Miss Lstarts wanting a dog we may have to start thinking about a snake instead.

Starting Young

Baby C has discovered a love for the computer! For a while now, she has enjoyed sitting on my lap and turning off my monitor while I am trying to "work"-AKA- read people's blogs. But in the last few days she has discovered Tumblebooks. She will sit in the chair and "watch" a book and it is the cutest thing ever! She can even use the mouse. She doesn't know what she is clicking on and when she clicks it makes things happen and she has to yell for help, but she can click:-)

Baby C Without Her Sisters

Grammy took the big girls for the weekend, so Cadence was on her own with Mommy and Daddy. She and I decided to do some cleaning on Sunday. We changed the sheets on the beds. She loved putting them in the washer (She mya take after SB in the laundry department!). Then we decided to do a little dusting. She is like a pro with the feather duster! After we dusted the bed we moved onto the dresser. She helped dust it, but soon decided it would be much more fun to climb inside.
Boo! Right in the middle of our cleaning she decided she needed some sunglasses. But, that didn't last long. Sunglasses make it hard to see the dust. After a long day of cleaning she had to feed her baby.A woman's job never ends!

YMCA and SB's new Friend

Daddy got us all a family membership to the Y for Christmas. We have really been enjoying it! SB found a new friend the first day we went. Her name is Lulu and SB just loves her! Everyday when we are leaving she has to stop and tell Lulu goodbye and give her hugs and kisses.Miss L wanted to pose with Lulu also, but she is not near as attached as SB. They posed together with Lulu. Yes, Miss L is pinching SB's arm. Can you tell? At least Lulu is smiling for the picture;-)

Good Night Sleep Tight

Yes, that is SB and yes she is asleep in a chair! I know I probably should have gotten her and taken her to bed, but instead I reached for the camera. She actually looks very comfortable! Tonight she was reading a Tumble Book on the computer and it ended, so she started yelling, "Mama, Mama!" I was getting Baby C to sleep, so I yelled back that I would be there in a minute. I heard her say something else. I have no idea what it was and then it was silent. I started to get a little worried at what she might be into. When Baby C fell asleep I walked in the room and discovered the reason behind her being so quiet;-) That kid has been that way her whole life one minute she is awake and the next minute she is not... no matter where she is at or what she is doing!

Haircut For Daddy

SB and Baby C decided to give Daddy a "haircut" this afternoon. They used the clips that they use to hold the paper down on their easel. Doesn't he look lovely? Sometimes it got a little rough. They had a tendency to pull the clips out before opening them. Here SB was using one of her plastic horses to do something to the front of Daddy's hair. I'm not really sure what that was all about. Maybe she was texturizing his bangs? A shirt for a cape, a huge clip and a great haircut ... what more could a man need?

Blueberry Muffins--YUM!

SB decided she wanted blueberry muffins for breakfast this morning. They make blueberry muffins just about every time we are at Grammy's. Grammy always keeps a box of Jiffy Blueberry Muffins on hand... I don't. So, what do you do when you need a recipe--All Recipes of course! I love that site! We found this one.
We only had whole wheat flour, so I was a little worried about how they would turn out. We were all pleasantly surprised. They were really good! I thought the girls may not like them because they weren't as sweet as Jiffy's. But they gobbled them up! Although, SB did tell Grammy she liked the ones at her house better than the ones we made;-)

Peek A Boo

Baby C decided to put herself in the girls' baby doll crib tonight. They weren't here, so I know they had nothing to do with it, but I do wonder if she has been in this crib before? She was having a good time playing in there by herself, but when she noticed me watching... she decided to play some peek a boo!

Happy Anniversary

Hubby and I celebrated our 10th anniversary today. On one hand it is hard to believe it has been ten years, but at the same time I can't imagine life without him. We didn't really do much to celebrate. This morning we went to the Y and worked out a little. Then we had a picnic at the lake behind the Y. The girls had a good time feeding the ducks. It was a very uneventful day.
I can't believe how young Devon looks in this picture. I was 24 and he was 21. When I look at our wedding pictures I can understand why his mom freaked out-he was just a baby!
So for you Mr. Cox 10 Things I Love About You:
1. You are so laid back. I know I can be pretty hard headed and I appreciate the fact that you aren't;-)
2. You are able to forget everything and give the girls your undivided attention. I envy that about you. You can go in their room and play with the Weebles or the doll house and just give them your attention and play. I am trying to be more like you.
3. You admit when you are wrong and don't mind apologizing. I'm still working on this one, but I'll get there, I promise!
4.You love to compliment your wife. I may not always seem to appreciate it, but I do.
5. You are a dreamer. I know I seem to shoot your dreams down sometimes, but I think it is awesome that you are not afraid to dream and take risks.
6. You are very thoughtful. You always show me how much you appreciate the things I do for you. Thank you!
7. Your eyes are the most beautiful shade of green!
8. You have a great sense of humor. I know we will still be laughing when we are 90.
9. You are very talented and smart. I am always amazed at how fast you learn things. Whether you are learning how to do something on the computer or working on a new song you never seize to amaze me.
10. You are very sensitive. I know you like to tell me I am as hard as a rock and you probably think I don't appreciate your softness, but I do. I love that you have a soft side and you aren't afraid to show it.
I can't wait to spend the next 10 years with you and the 10 after that and the 10 after that...
