Run Daddy Run!

Devon ran his second half marathon with Team in Training this weekend.  We all went down on Friday morning to pickup his packet.
The girls were excited to pose with Daddy in front of the countdown clock.
We got up early Saturday morning packed out breakfast, snacks, and sign making stuff.  We waited around mile six.  The girls liked watching the race and giving the runners high five.  Story held a sign that said, 'I'm a survivor.  Thank you Team in Training.'  She brought lots of smile to the TNT runners and many others too!  We had one runner stop and give Story a hug saying she was also a leukemia survivor.
Sadly, as I was loading these pictures I realized we didn't get one picture of Devon at the end of the race:-(  It was hot and by the time the girls and I left mile six, parked and made it to the stadium.  They were DONE!  We didn't even make it to the finish line.
He was having stomach issues and it was HOT, but he finished.  Good job, Dev!

New Puppy

We had a new puppy for a little while today.
Luckily, she decided to be a little girl again:-)

First Strawberry

The girls were excited to pick our first strawberries today.

They weren't very big, but it was fun and they tasted pretty good:-)

Art at Cheekwood

The girls and I went to Cheekwood this morning to do some art.  They made mixed media bug jars on construction paper.

I didn't get a picture of their final products.  This was actually the only picture I took, but it was too cute not to share.

Two Little Cuties

When I came home from work today these two beauties were out riding their scooters.  It was 6:00 in the evening and they were in night gowns and rubber boots (no it had not rained).  Love it!

Let' Go Fly a Kite

Grammy brought the girls a couple of kites the last time she visited.  Today was pretty windy, so we decided to go try them out.

When the kite flying was done we headed over to the park for a little while.

Healthy Kids Festival

Today we went to the healthy kids festival at Centennial Park.  It was pretty hot, so we didn't stay too long.  The girls waited an insane amount of time to get their faces painted.

Story Bell was all too happy to stand in line for the inflatable rock wall.

Cadence had no interest in the rock wall, so she made a crown.  There was even a princess there to help.

Fun at Cheekwood

Mimi J is in town visiting, so we decided to take her to one of our favorite places, Cheekwood.
Story decided to invite her boyfriend, Chess.  Here she is posing with him.
The girls LOVE running around and exploring the water.

I was really surprised the girls agreed to pose on this rock wall!

They were also happy to pose in the gazebo.

We had a great time and enjoyed a picnic while we were there.

Story is Taking Ice Skating Lessons

Story started a homeschool ice skating class today.  She was so excited to start!  We went ice skating when we were in Texas in December and she really liked it.
They showed them the proper way to fall before they ever let them on the ice:-)
She was really timid at first and wanted to stay near the wall.
Eventually I think she started having fun, but the fun didn't last.
Before the end of the class the instructor brought her out to me and said she was cold.  When the instructor walked away she burst into tears!  She was screaming that her hands were cold, she was freezing and she was never coming back!  I held her and rubbed her hands trying to warm them, but she just cried and said she was freezing.
Once we left, I talked to her and told her we could get her some better gloves or she could wear two pair of gloves.  We also agreed her jeans would be warmer than the little thin pants she had on today.  She has agreed to give it another try next week.

Egg Hunting at the Zoo

We decided to take the girls to the egg hunt at the zoo today.  There were LOTS of kiddos there!  The zoo staff is very well organized and every event we have ever attended there has always been fun.
They had the egg hunts separated by age groups and all of the eggs were empty.  So, it didn't matter if you found one or fifty, all the kiddos received a goodie bag for the eggs they found.

Cadence was excited about the dino-duck in her goodie bag!
 Story out in the crowd.
The girls did get a little bored when it wasn't their turn to hunt, but luckily it didn't last too long.

 Lyric out in the crowd.
After the egg hunting we played some games.

The day would not have been complete without some time in the jumpy houses!

The girls worked on the Easter mural before we headed out.
Story Bell wasn't much into the coloring, so she just ran around in the field.
When we left the zoo we hit Sonic for ice cream cones and drinks and then headed to Nashville West to a shopping center we go to often.
The girls decided to pose with the guitars while Cadence finished her ice cream.

After a quick trip to World Market we headed over to the playground.  The girls seem to like these rocks more than the actual playground:-)

Unfortunately, this was not enough egg hunting for Story and she informed us that we would need to be doing more hunting on Easter!
