Reading to the Elderly

Lyric and I have a habit of reading while I fold laundry.  Today, Lyric was pretending Coda was her daughter.  I had a load of laundry that needed folded, so I asked if she wanted to read while I folded clothes. She looked at Coda and said, "Come on honey, we have to go read to the elderly."  Thanks a lot Lyr:-/

Money Making Girl

Tonight I was doing the dishes and Cadence asked me to play with her.  I told her I had to finish the dishes first, but she could sweep the kitchen if she wanted to help out.  She politely declined and left the kitchen.  A few minutes later, Coda was in her bouncy seat and she started to get fussy.  I wear her in the Ergo sometimes when I do the dishes, but I was almost done and didn't really want to stop what I was doing to put her in it.
Cadence was playing in the living room, so I asked her to come entertain Coda while I finished.  She hesitated before answering, so I added that I would pay her.
She walked in the kitchen and asked, "How much?"
I told her I could pay a quarter.
She sat there a couple of seconds and said, "Will you pay 2?"
I agreed.
She did a great job.  She sang "I'm a Little Tea Pot" and then she made up songs about shapes.  I have four sides the same length.  What am I?...Square, I have two long sides and two short sides.  What am I?...Rectangle, and songs about triangle, hexagon, and octagon.
I finished the dishes and gave her the two quarters plus a quarter tip (she really deserved more:-)
A few minutes later she came in the room offering to sweep the kitchen for another quarter to have a dollar.  Smart girl, knows $.75 doesn't buy you much these days!

Hummingbird Festival

Devon worked late last night, so I took the girls to the nature center this morning.  They were having a hummingbird festival.
We learned so much!  The girls saw a puppet show and made some crafts.
The nature center was catching and tagging the hummingbirds, but the girls weren't too interested in waiting for them to catch one.  We headed over to the nature play area.

While they were playing, I noticed they were tagging a hummingbird back up at the nature center.  I really wanted to go see it close up, but Cadence didn't want to stop playing.  Lyric and Story went to check it out while I stayed with Cadence.
We decided to have our snack near one of the feeders hoping a hummingbird would show up.
It didn't, but the girls did have a good time playing in the big chair.

We had a good time and learned lots about hummingbirds!

First Day of Co-Op

We started our Homeschool Co-Op today.
We we're all really excited!  It's our first time to participate in a co-op.  Coda and I will be with the preschoolers while the girls participate in classes with the school age kiddos.  They will have History, Show and Tell, Science and Sewing.
And a close up of this angel, just because she's such a beauty.

Splash Park!

Today we finally took the kiddos downtown to check out a park that opened last year.
They were very excited to play on the splash pad.  Lyric was REALLY excited--not;-)

Story and Cadence had a good time.

Lyric was bored and complaining the whole time, so Devon took her to walk around and explore the rest of the park.

They tried out the seesaw before we left.  They liked it.  I did not!

There is a reason they don't put seesaws in parks anymore.  Those things are death traps!  This is a really cool park otherwise!

Sidewalk Paint

It was a beautiful day today, so we decided to try making some sidewalk paint.  I've seen this on Pinterest a few times and was excited to finally try it.
The colors turned out really pretty!

The girls were worried Coda was going to get a sunburn, so they put a blanket over her head.

Once I got them started painting, I decided I was going to mow the front yard for Devon.
Sadly, I couldn't get the mower to start:-(

The yard would have to mowed another day, but at least we were able to enjoy the beautiful weather!

We will definitely be doing this again.  It was easy and fun!
