37 Days

I found the coolest blog last night, 37 Days. If you had 37 days left to live what would you be doing right now?
Would I be taking the time to write this blog? Would I have allowed two of my children to go home with Grammy for a week? Earlier tonight would I have asked Devon to take Cadence because she is teething and fussy?
I have really enjoyed reading this blog and seeing what other people would do if they knew they only had 37 days left to live. All I can think about is my girls and how much it would suck to know I would only be with them for 37 more days.
Life is short and many of us don't know if we have 37 days left to live or 37 hours or even 37 minutes...make every second count!

My Babies Are Gone...

well two of them are. Grammy took the two big girls back home with her today! She came to visit for the weekend and Story asked when they were going to her house, so she told her she could go. The next thing you know Lyric was going too! I tried to talk Lyric into staying by telling her we would do lots of fun stuff, but she wanted to go with Story. Those two our pretty tight!
We went to the pool this morning before they left. I could not believe how empty it was! There was practically nobody there. We never go to the pool on Saturdays because we always assume it will be too busy, but that was not the case this morning.
Grammy got to see the girls swimming around in their Safe T Seals (the best invention ever!!!!)Lyric showed Grammy how she could do a flip in the water. Daddy taught her last week. It took her a few tries to remember, but she finally got it! Poor Little Cadence's teeth were bothering her even in the pool!
We saved a frog today. The lifeguards spotted the little guy in the water and Lyric and I got him out. They said you have to rinse them off because they will absorb the chlorine through their skin, so the lifeguard hosed him down. He had a small cut on his leg, but I think he was going to be fine. Lyric really wanted to hold him, but I was afraid she would hurt him, so she just looked at him.
I had this grand idea to take the girls' picture all laying on their bellies in the baby pool. It was so cute in my head... how do you like the results?
Well, I guess I will have to find something to do with myself now. Cadence is napping and the house is so quiet!

Passion At Play

Devon and I went to see Passion At Play presented by American Repertory Ensemble last night. It was a lot of fun! This was our first time to go to an event like this. We have never been to a ballet, but we do enjoy the symphony. This was the best of both worlds. The musicians are on stage with the dancers, so you can enjoy watching them both.
As you know, we have three children age four and under, so we don't get to do this kind of thing very often. My mom came to town to watch the girls and Devon and I had a really great time! (Thanks Grammy!)
American Repertory Ensemble is a nonprofit organization, so go check out their website and think about attending their next event. You won't be disappointed!

Magic Monkey Bananas

Lyric had a cooking play date today. They read No More Cookies by Paeony Lewis and then made Magic Monkey Bananas.
First, they cut the banana in half and peeled it.
Then they covered it in chocolate and sprinkles!
Yes, the sprinkles came out a little fast:-)
While the bananas were in the freezer the kiddos played Twister Scram and Hullabaloo. We had never played either of these games before, but Lyric seemed to enjoy them.
The girls shared a red circle.
Lyric and C shared a spot, but he didn't want to get too close! I wish I had taken a picture of their feet rather than their faces. He had one toe on the circle.
You know guys there is more than one blue circle!
Banana time! YUM!
I don't know why she has that expression. She really did like it! On our way home from the play date I told Lyric we would have to get the stuff to make Magic Monkey Bananas with Story, but she insisted we would have to get the book also. So I guess we will be looking for No More Cookies on our next trip to the library.

The Release of the Worms

We had a playdate at our house last week. It was a science playdate for the four year olds. I thought it would be fun to make wormeries with the kiddos. I was really surprised that most of the kids didn't want to touch the worms. I think Lyric was the only one who actually liked them. J and D, our playdate friends, were not too excited about the worms, but I think they both may have touched one by the end of the playdate.
I am not sure what J was thinking here. She was probably wondering why Lyric would want to touch the nasty worms!
We measured the worms, looked at them with a magnifying glass, and then made them homes with a coke bottle and dirt. Today we decided to let them go in the backyard. Lyric had to play with them for a while before she let them go because she just "loves" them. I asked Story if she wanted to hold one before we let them go, but she said, "No, thank you." She just watched.

This picture of Cadence was taken at the playdate and I only included it because it was so darn cute! Thanks J for sharing your pictures, it was hard for me to get too many with worms all over my hands!

WHAT?

The girls discovered a plastic bag in a tree in the backyard. They decided they wanted to climb the tree to get the bag down. For three days when we went in the backyard they would attempt to climb the tree to get the bag down. I knew there was no way they were going to be able to get up the tree, so I just let them try. When they would ask me for help I would tell them I wasn't sure how they could climb it we would have to ask Daddy for help.
Let me give you a little background on Daddy, he i afraid of heights! He doesn't like high places at all! I had to hang up part of our Christmas lights because he couldn't climb up to the top of the ladder. So last night, we are all outside and Lyric starts in about this bag in the tree and how she wants to climb the tree to get it down. What my husband was thinking is beyond me!!! The next thing I know this is what I see... I could not believe my husband who is afraid to climb this tree is helping my four year old in it! He really thought she was going to chicken out, so he decided to help her climb it because he didn't think she would. Well, we learned a little something about Miss Lyric, she did not take after her Daddy in the heights department! She was determined to climb that tree and get the bag down! Here is where they were contemplating what to do next and Daddy just knew she was going to change her mind... she didn't. Here is where he was having to physically force her to get down. She was crushed that she couldn't get the bag down. I don't know if I should tell what happened next... Daddy decided he was going to get the bag out of the tree so Lyric would be happy. I will just tell you it involved two buckets, two balls, a rock and lots of throwing... the bag is still in the tree along with a few other things:-)

2 box fans + 1 king sized sheet= a whole lot of fun!

Lyric wanted Daddy to help her build a tent this afternoon. I happened to walk into the room and decided to join in on the fun. I asked Devon if he had ever made tents with a fan when he was young and he had no idea what I was talking about (he said I should ask his brothers because he blocked a lot of his childhood out).
I set up two box fans, spread a sheet across the backs of them, turned them both on high and we had ourselves a tent. The girls brought in blankets, books, dolls and even a lantern. The whole family played for quite awhile in it.
Cadence really seemed to like it! Really she did!
I have a feeling this isn't going to be our last fan tent around here!

Cadence Takes a Dip

So, the girls were outside playing the other night. Cadence was sitting in Fred, her horse, hanging out. Story was watering the grass and I looked up and she was spraying Cadence right in the face with the hose. Cadence didn't look very happy while she was being sprayed, but when Story stopped she thought it was the funniest thing ever! We decided to strip her down and stick her in the pool. She loved it!

Wordless Wednesday

My shot of Story.
Story's shot of me.
