They Can't Learn Anything From TV!

Today Lyric, Story, Coda and I went shopping.  Cadence wasn't feeling very well, so she stayed home with Devon.  She got some Dots candy when we went Trick or Treating.  They reminded her of one of her favorite Magic School Bus episodes.  Ms Frizzle and the kids made a bridge from Dots, toothpicks and popsicle sticks.
With a little help from Daddy she made her own :-)

Silly Selfies

Daddy took the big girls to play tennis this afternoon.  He sent us some pictures of them on the court, so Cadence decided we should send him some pictures of us.  We took a few silly selfies.

I love that toothless girl;-)

Ready for the Weather

We had a threat of severe weather this afternoon.  The girls prepared the bathroom in case they had to get in the bathtub and wait it out.  They filled the tub with blankets and pillows and books and games and electronics... they also wore their bike helmets most of the day.  Cadence spent quite a bit of time walking around with her helmet, t-shirt and my heels. She looks ready for a tornado to hit, right?
Luckily, the storms missed us!

Toothless

Cadence lost her second top tooth yesterday.  She lost the first one a few nights ago.  The tooth fairy usually leaves $3.00.  Cadence didn't feel that was enough, so she left a note asking for more than $3.00.  The tooth fairy brought her $4.00.  Well, last night she left the fairy another note.  This time asking for more that $4.00.  The tooth fairy left her $5.00.  I hope it is a while before she loses another tooth.  The tooth fairy is going to go broke!

Money Making Girl

Tonight I was doing the dishes and Cadence asked me to play with her.  I told her I had to finish the dishes first, but she could sweep the kitchen if she wanted to help out.  She politely declined and left the kitchen.  A few minutes later, Coda was in her bouncy seat and she started to get fussy.  I wear her in the Ergo sometimes when I do the dishes, but I was almost done and didn't really want to stop what I was doing to put her in it.
Cadence was playing in the living room, so I asked her to come entertain Coda while I finished.  She hesitated before answering, so I added that I would pay her.
She walked in the kitchen and asked, "How much?"
I told her I could pay a quarter.
She sat there a couple of seconds and said, "Will you pay 2?"
I agreed.
She did a great job.  She sang "I'm a Little Tea Pot" and then she made up songs about shapes.  I have four sides the same length.  What am I?...Square, I have two long sides and two short sides.  What am I?...Rectangle, and songs about triangle, hexagon, and octagon.
I finished the dishes and gave her the two quarters plus a quarter tip (she really deserved more:-)
A few minutes later she came in the room offering to sweep the kitchen for another quarter to have a dollar.  Smart girl, knows $.75 doesn't buy you much these days!

Allergic?

Today Cadence told me, "I think Coda's allergic to you because she sneezed after you kissed her!"  I hope you're wrong Cadence!

Cadence Says...

Today I overheard Cadence talking to Coda, "Oh Coda, I would like to dip you in ranch and take a big bite out of you!"
Cadence, I think everyone in the family feels the same way!  Although, I would skip the ranch:-)

Cadence says...

There isn't a day that goes by when one of the girls doesn't say something to crack us up.  Tonight it was Cadence.
I decided I was going to try to make black bean brownies.  I've seen the recipe on Pinterest a few times and I had some black beans I needed to use, so why not give them a try?  I asked Cadence if she wanted to help.  She was excited and immediately put on her apron.  She saw the black beans in the strainer near the sink, "Black beans, we're putting black beans in the brownies?!?!?!"
I told her we were and took out the food processor to mash them up.  She said, "We're mashing them?"
When I answered yes she said, "The only thing worse than black beans is mashed black beans!"
She may think she doesn't like mashed black beans, but she sure did eat two brownies;-)

We used this recipe if you want to try them.

Come See Mama...

While I was in labor, Lyric and Story were in the room.  Cadence came in a few times, but for the most part she did her own thing.  She watched TV and played in the room across the hall.  When she plays she likes to get everything set up and calls it her "set up".  While I was in labor she came in the room and said, "Mama, I want you to come and see my set up."  I told her I was a little busy having a baby and I would have to come later.  Just minutes after Coda was born... I hadn't even delivered the placenta, so I had an umbilical cord hanging out of me.  She came back in the room to see if I was ready to see her set up.
I told her I still couldn't come, but if she would take pictures of it on my phone I would love to see it.  This was her set up:-)

I LOVE the ones with her little feet in them!

Varoom Varoom

Woo Hoo #5 on the List

Tonight Cadence and I were laying in the bed together.  She was watching a movie on Netflix and I was on the laptop.  Out of the blue, in her sweetest, most loving voice she said, "Did I ever tell you, you're my favorite after pigs, yellow, Belle and ham."  Wow, I'm right up there with ham!

Little Itchy Girl

So, the day before yesterday Cadence walked up and said she was itching.  I raised up her shirt and saw a rash on her back.  It wasn't really that bad, just kind of red and splotchy.  We thought she was having some sort of allergic reaction to something outside.  She had been outside playing in the grass, so we just figured that's what it was.  I told her I would buy her some Benadryl on my way home from work.
That night we gave her the Benadryl.  The itching stopped, but the rash didn't go away.  The next day she still had a slight rash and was itching a little, so we gave her more Benadryl.  Devon and I thought about taking her to the doctor, but the Benadryl made the itching stop and the rash was just read and splotchy.  So we thought it would eventually go away.
Well, last night she walked up and said she was itching and this is what I saw...

I freaked out a little and thought about taking her to the emergency room!  The rash was everywhere and puffy and really itchy!  We gave her more Benadryl and planned to call the doctor first thing this morning.

This morning it was still there.  On the way to the doctor I tried to think what could be causing it.  I was trying to remember what she had eaten thinking she had all of a sudden started having some food allergy.
We went to the doctor and the nurse took her temperature and weight.  She asked about her symptoms and I told her it was just the rash.  She told us to head to the examination room and said she was going to follow us in with a strep test.  I thought, "Strep test?--Why?"  But she did the test and sure enough when the doctor came in a few minutes later she said it was positive.
Have you ever heard of strep throat causing a rash?
It was so weird!  Cadence hasn't complained of a sore throat at all just being itchy.
This puppy I found for 75%off when I was buying her meds made her feel somewhat better!

Yes, she does some tasting too;-)

Tonight we made some Super Bowl Food.

Little Chef

Cadence was helping me peel potatoes tonight, but soon decided it was too hard for her.  She asked if she could make a fruit salad because, "I'm really good at cutting fruit and Lyric even taught me to cut the leaves off of strawberries!"
She got the fruit out that she wanted in her salad- an apple, a banana, strawberries, blueberries and blackberries.  Daddy washed it for her and she got to work.   I used the apple slicer for her, but she did everything else.

One proud little girl and a yummy fruit salad!

Cadence Loses a Tooth

Cadence is growing up!  A couple of nights ago we were eating and she said her tooth hurt when she took a bite.  I asked her if she had a loose tooth and she said no.  But she let me feel and it was REALLY loose!
The next day she designed her tooth fairy pillow and helped me sew it.

This afternoon we were sitting at the table having a snack and I noticed her tooth was much taller than the others.  I told her it really needed to be pulled, so she let me pull it.
That little bitty tooth had the longest roots I have ever seen!
She was very excited once it was out!  It went straight into her tooth fairy pillow.

History Club Drop Out

I don't know if you remember, but I posted in August Cadence started History Club with sisters.  She went that day and seemed to really like it, but when it came time for class in September she refused to go.

She said, "All you do is sit and do what the teacher tells you to do."
So, I let them know they could give her spot to someone else because she would not be returning.
Today while sisters were on at History Club she and I went on a date to Chick Fil A.  She was really excited to be on a date, just the two of us.

I think she liked History Club, but she likes time without her sisters even better:-)

Little Miss Reporter

I was reading a book in the bed tonight when Cadence walked in the room.  She was being a reporter.

I understood the camera and even the hat, but didn't really get the need for Daddy's boots and shirt.  Maybe she thinks only men are reporters?
