Dendrchronology

I have to admit I learned a new word today! I had never heard of dendrochronology before. We went over to J's house today and learned about trees. The kiddos watched a video on the computer and then we went outside to look at a tree stump. It was freezing out there! The girls said they were ready to go home, but we decided to stick it out. Does she look like she is having fun?
When we were back inside the kiddos drew tree rings on a paper plate that corresponded with their age. So, Lyric drew four rings and Story Bell drew three (two days before the big bday).

Pancake Art

Story decided she needed to use the cookie cutters on her pancake this morning. And then she decided she needed to use the food writer markers to decorate her pancakes. Yes, I know this is all my fault. I did it, I accept full responsibility! Can you tell who she decided to make? From left to right: Daddy, Cadence, and Mommy. Can you see the resemblance? She probably would have made Lyric, but she ran out of pancake.

Crafty Girl

Miss Story Bell was feeling pretty crafty today. This morning she colored a picture of an elf and glued her picture on for the face. It was really cute, but I forget to take a picture of it. I got the idea from here. She decided she wanted to turn it into a Christmas card, so we did. I won't say who she sent it to so the surprise won't be ruined.
This afternoon we found another card idea on the internet at the Family Fun website. She made these cute Santa cards with her hand print. You can tell in this one I helped her decide where the eyes should go. But in this one she did it all on her own. They turned out pretty cute! Tomorrow we will get them in the mail.
It is really interesting to watch Story when she is doing crafts. Her coloring really amazes me. She uses lots of colors and for the most part she stays in the lines.
I really like doing Christmas crafts, so I was glad she wanted to do these projects today. The girls haven't been feeling too crafty lately.

My Husband is Officially an Old Man!

I have often wondered about my husband. He just seems old sometimes. Tonight I noticed he got himself a new key chain. It is official folks he is an 80 year old man in a 31 year old body!
Yes, that is a pair of fingernail clippers on his keyring. Does anything else need to be said?

Mamaw and Da Come to Visit

Mamaw and Da were in town this weekend, so we had everyone over to eat at our house.Daddy taught Lyric to strike a match to light the barbecue pit. Teaching the 4 year old to light matches? Not sure if that is the best thing to be teaching her, Daddy!
Everyone had a good time visiting. The girls had their tent set up in the backyard and they let Baby Zayden join in on the fun. Da Dale brought Zayden a wagon. Miss Lyric was all too happy to ride with him.
Story Bell had to have a turn, too.

Good food and fun was had by all!

Snowmen

The girls and I saw a cute picture for snowmen cookies today, so we had to give them a try. Cadence had to get in the chair to help big sister with the mixing (yes, she put that necklace on herself).

Check out that expert egg cracker. It even made it in the bowl, well, most of it did.

Miss Lyric did a little mixing too.

The recipe said it would make like 21 snowmen. I don't know if we made snowmen really big, or what... we only ended up with 9. We ate a little dough, but only a little. I don't think it was 12 cookies worth of dough!

Lyric really like the Strawberry Malt Balls for her snowman!

Story Bell decided to put her "hat" on the bottom, hey what ever works for ya! Right?

Of course, eating was the best part!

YUM!

Happy Monday!

We had a busy day today. The day started out with Lyric and I doing the breakfast dishes. I had Cadence strapped in her chair next to us and I look over and see this: The little Houdini decided she needed to climb out of the chair and attempt to get on the cabinet! The girls and I made advent calendars today. They have started asking when Santa is coming, so I decided we needed a way to count it down or I was going to go crazy! I found this one at Kaboose. Lyric isn't usually much on coloring, but she stuck with this.
Cadence did a little coloring, but she really enjoyed throwing the crayons in the floor. I helped her with the leaves a little:-)
Story Bell had fun making her Santa (yes, she was naked).
She even cut it out.
So proud!
Cadence found one of the girls ink pads for their stamps. She was very unhappy when I took it away.
This is what a Cadence tantrum looks like:She sticks her hinney in the air and lays her head on the floor while crying like it is the end of the world. A close up of the ink hands:We haven't had a muffin tin in a while, so we decided to have one today. For the big girls from left to right: fish sticks, ketchup, ketchup, fish sticks, corn, bread, bread, corn, peaches, chocolate pudding, chocolate pudding, peaches
For Cadence from left to right: fish sticks, bread, fish sticks, corn, peaches, corn. I am sure you noticed the stocking shaped bread. It is December, so you know I had to bust out the Christmas cookie cutters!

We're Still Here!

It has been so long since I have written a blog entry I am not sure I still know how! I had to type my password twice because I couldn't remember it! We are still around I guess things have been too busy to blog or maybe too boring;-) We had Thanksgiving in Bryan with my mom and then we came back here on Friday and had it with Devon's family on Saturday. Good food and good times at both places. I didn't take one picture while we were in Bryan, but here are the few I have from here. Enjoy!
Sweet Baby!
Yes, they did try to get all of his kisses, but they hadn't seen him in over two months. Can you blame them?
We thought it would be cute to get pictures of all of the kiddos together... yeah, not so much;-)
Quite the handful!
Lyric and Zaydie (as she called him) played and played.
Story and Cadence played and played.
Mimi J and Cadence played and played.
Uncle Brandon and Kaydi played the pass game with the girls over and over again! Who knew they had so much patients?
Daddy enjoyed watching some football. He was rooting against Tech, but when Uncle Brandon threatened to kick him out he quickly changed his team choice.
Story took a picture of Baby Z and I. If that boy had my blood I would swear he got his fat face from me!
